Relatives, Roller-coasters, and Riverwalks

What an exciting week it has been! First, Trent and I went to the temple. Though smaller, it was absolutely beautiful. I promise next time we go we will take pictures! I quit my retail job and applied for a nanny position the next day. Prayers certainly were answered because I got the job! I will now be working about 20 minutes away from home for a family with 2 children. We couldn't be happier!

Thursday Trent and I met up with his Aunt Jean and Uncle Bill. They travel often in their RV and just happened to be visiting the area. They treated us to our favorite BBQ restaurant (so far) called Rudy's. It's very close to our house and absolutely delicious complete with creamed corn, smoked brisket and pulled pork. I just finished lunch and yet my mouth still waters thinking about it. It was great to meet Uncle Bud and Aunt Jean. They are friendly vibrant characters and we hope to see them again soon!

This weekend we made last minute plans to road trip to San Antonio, the heart of Texas. It was such a fantastic trip (minus the heat, the humidity and the bug bites). Friday we drove and set up camp. That night we watched South Pacific on my laptop in the tent, a musical I have been craving this summer season. I almost forgot how beautiful the music and characters were. It was Trent's first time watching the movie and we laughed at the adult jokes I had never picked up before.

Saturday we got a quick bite of breakfast, bought an air mattress to save us from another sleepless night, and headed to Fiesta Texas Six Flags! It was so. much. fun.

Six flags brings out the six-year-old in Trent. Look at his smile!

Scream is one of my all-time favorite rides. It was Trent's first time one one and he loved it!

Rock City High!

Superman was an amazing and HUGE ride.

Goliath is a great ride. It's an inverted roller-coaster meaning the seats attach to the track at the top. It's pretty neat having your feet dangle! Six flags has quite a few water rides as well. We put our camera away right after this picture so we could head over and cool off!

The following day we packed up and drove to downtown San Antonio visiting popular tourist sites around the area. Most of these places we located while walking through the 1968 world fair creation, the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk are a series of canals built around and through the city. It reminded me of Venice and Trent and I agreed that if we lived in San Antonio we would visit the Riverwalk every weekend.

We walked around La Villita, an old Spanish village that evolved into a Mexican market...

St. Antonio himself. We found this at a beautiful cathedral.

And of course, the Alamo. This site, was packed with people and it wasn't even noon yet! It reminded me of the Louvre in Paris. Shortly after this we walked back to our car and headed home. When we got back, it started to down poor! Trent ran out to move his motorcycle undercover. He got soaked.

Altogether, an amazing weekend. One of the best ways to spend quality time together before Trent's business trip. He left at noon for Bradford, PA for training. Now I am alone for three days without any friends and no work until Thursday. This'll be fun...

PS: I heard, or I guess didn't hear, the 2nd vacation video. Apparently I had a song on it that had copyright protection. I exchanged the music online so there would at least be some back up sound. Sorry about that! It is a neat video though, so make sure you still take a look!
